Not sure how to begin this or what to write. I first met Marie in October 1991 when I moved into the next room to her in halls at the University of Luton. On our first night together with Angela, who lived a few rooms away we decided to investigate the student union bar over the road. It was here Marie performed her party piece of removing the label from a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale in one piece. The three of us all studied environmental science but a different first subject. After graduation Marie moved to Manchester to work for UMIST environmental & by chance I found myself in Manchester doing a Masters degree. I had to find a company that would let me do my thesis project. Marie came up trumps and I too went to UMIST environmental. Whilst here Marie met Andrew and he became my mentor for my project. Things progressed well, I completed my MSc and Marie and Andrew started seeing each other. They moved to Kidderminster, then Harbourne, I still saw Marie as my now husband’s family live close by. They eventually settled in Cardiff, Angela moved to Chatham and I ended up in Chester. Meeting up became difficult as we grew older, we had planned to meet up for my 50th birthday in 2020 but Covid stopped that. We were hoping to meet up this year but sadly it wasn’t to be. 

Marie will never be forgotten, she helped with my ‘education’ particular in music and clothes. I will always associate Bon Jovi particularly Living on a Prayer, Marillion, and Queen Bohemian Rhapsodyi.  She introduced me to the Rocky Horror Show and actually met my now husband for the first time dressed up going to a showing. She worried about teddy bears with squashed faces not being brought and loved so would do her best to ‘improve’ them by squishing their faces  

Fly high my friend, till we meet again. You’ll always be remembered. Thank you for over 30years of friendship and being there for me.
